Primary Purpose
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the Arts, Audio/Video Technology, and Communications Career Cluster designed to fulfill their maximum potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and technical skills in audio/video production, digital media, broadcasting, and multimedia communications in preparation for postsecondary education and careers.
Qualifications
Education/Certification
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with appropriate Career and Technical Education (CTE) certification (Technology Applications, Technology Education, or Trade & Industrial Education preferred)
Special Knowledge/Skills
- Knowledge of audio/video production, digital communications, broadcasting, photography, and multimedia editing
- Proficiency with industry-standard software and equipment including Adobe Creative Suite, digital cameras, audio equipment, and studio technology
- Knowledge of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for Arts, Audio/Video Technology, and Communications
- Ability to manage classroom and production studio environments
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to supervise student productions and extracurricular activities
Experience
- Student teaching or approved internship
- Industry experience in audio/video production, broadcasting, journalism, or digital media preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Instructional Strategies
- Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with TEKS and district curriculum requirements.
2. Teach concepts and technical skills in video production, audio production, broadcasting, scriptwriting, editing, lighting, camera operation, and digital communications.
3. Utilize technology and project-based learning strategies to engage students.
4. Provide instruction that prepares students for industry-based certifications and careers in digital media.
5. Differentiate instruction according to student needs, abilities, and learning styles.
6. Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning and safe equipment operation.
Student Growth and Development
- Encourage creativity, collaboration, communication, and critical-thinking skills.
8. Establish and maintain standards of student behavior.
9. Monitor student progress and provide timely feedback.
10. Support student participation in CTSOs such as SkillsUSA and student media organizations.
Program Management
- Maintain inventory and care of audio/video equipment, cameras, computers, and studio technology.
12. Coordinate student productions, broadcasts, livestreams, announcements, and media projects.
13. Ensure compliance with copyright laws, acceptable use policies, and district procedures.
14. Assist in development and promotion of the district’s CTE Audio/Video program.
Communication
- Maintain professional relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and community partners.
16. Communicate effectively regarding student achievement and program activities.
Professional Growth and Development
- Participate in staff development activities and professional organizations.
18. Stay current with emerging technology and industry trends in digital media and communications.
Other
- Attend faculty meetings and required district events.
20. Perform other duties as assigned by campus administration.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Direct student aides, interns, and student production teams as assigned.

Terms of Employment
Salary and work year to be established by the Board of Trustees and administrative regulations.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
