ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Determines type and degree of hearing impairment and implements rehabilitation and rehabilitation services for patient:
  • Administers and interprets variety of tests, such as air and bone conduction, and speech reception and discrimination tests, to determine type and degree of hearing impairment, site of damage, and effects on comprehension and speech.
  • Evaluates test results in relation to behavioral, social, educational, and medical information obtained from patients, families, teachers, Speech Pathologists and other professionals to determine communication problems related to hearing disability.
  • Plans and implements prevention, habilitation, or rehabilitation services, including hearing aid selection and orientation, counseling, auditory training, lip reading, language habilitation, speech conservation, and other treatment programs developed in consultation with Speech Pathologist and other professionals.
  • Perform comprehensive hearing and balance assessments (e.g., pure-tone audiometry, speech audiometry) to identify auditory and vestibular impairments.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, documentation, test results, equipment calibration logs and quality-assurance procedures.
  • Promote hearing conservation and prevention strategies within the community or workplace (e.g., noise exposure advice, ear protection).
  • Collaborate with ENT specialists, speech-language pathologists, educators and other allied health professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Should be aware of use of specialized equipment, and adherence to hygiene, safety and infection-control standards.
  • Should have good knowledge and proficiency in audiological equipment, hearing aid fitting and related technology.

Minimum Qualification and Skills Requirement:

  • Bachelor Degree in Audiology
  • Good knowledge and proficiency in audiological equipment, hearing aid fitting and related technology.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a multicultural environment; proficiency in English is required, Arabic may be an advantage.
  • Commitment to professional development, quality assurance and best practice standards.

Experience Requirement

  • Minimum clinical experience (commonly 2-5 years) in audiology practice.
  • Patient-centered approach with empathy, counselling skills and cultural sensitivity.
