Job Description

We are seeking a Technology News Writer / Reporter for one of Australia's leading sources of mobile and personal technology news.

We're looking for a driven, curious, and skilled journalist who can deliver timely, accurate, and engaging technology news stories. You'll play a key role in growing our site's voice within the Australian tech ecosystem by covering breaking news, reviewing devices, analysing industry trends, and producing insightful features that inform and inspire our audience.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and report on breaking news in the tech / mobile / computing space across Australia and globally
• Write clear, engaging, and well structured news articles, analysis, or features
• Conduct interviews with industry figures, developers, vendors, or experts
• Collaborate with editors, reviewers, and other writers to ideate content
• Stay up to date with technology trends, product launches, regulatory developments
• Optimize content for SEO, social media distribution, and audience growth
• Occasionally coordinate or contribute to multimedia or feature packages (e.g. roundups, explainers)

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience in journalism, news writing or content creation (tech focus)
• Strong writing, editing, and communication skills
• Ability to work under deadlines and produce high quality work quickly
• Passion for technology especially mobile, computing, smart home, and consumer electronics
• Understanding of the Australian tech environment
• Reliable internet access, ability to work remotely

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous coverage of the Australian tech / mobile / telco sector
• Familiarity with SEO best practices, CMS tools, analytics
• Established contacts within the tech world
