Auto Electrician

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair electrical faults in vehicles (e.g., wiring, batteries, alternators, starters, lighting).
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and troubleshoot electronic issues.
• Install and configure electrical components such as alarms, GPS, cameras, radios, and lighting systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance on vehicle electrical systems to avoid breakdowns.
• Test and replace defective electrical parts (e.g., fuses, relays, sensors, switches).
• Retrofit or upgrade vehicle systems with advanced electronic modules.
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and circuit schematics.
• Ensure all electrical work complies with manufacturer specifications and safety regulations.
• Document repairs and maintain service records accurately.
• Assist fleet or operations teams in resolving electrical issues across vehicles.
• Respond to on-site service calls for urgent electrical repairs when necessary.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean, safe working environment.
• Report recurring or critical issues to supervisors for further investigation.
• Work closely with mechanics and service teams to complete comprehensive vehicle repairs.

Qualifications

• Vocational certificate or diploma in Auto Electrical Technology.
• Training from a recognized technical institute or training center.
• Optional certification in automotive electronics or hybrid / electric vehicles.
• Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing vehicle electrical systems.
• Knowledge of battery, lighting, ignition, air conditioning, and dashboard systems.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams and use diagnostic tools.
• Awareness of electrical safety standards.
