Auto Mechanic

Job Summary:

An Automobile Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing cars and light trucks. They diagnose vehicle issues, perform routine maintenance, and use specialized tools and equipment to ensure vehicles are safe and running efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

• Inspect vehicle engine and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately
• Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and battery replacements
• Repair or replace broken or malfunctioning parts (e.g., brakes, steering systems, transmissions)
• Use diagnostic tools to identify faults and determine the best repair solutions
• Test vehicles before and after repair to ensure they operate properly
• Maintain detailed records of repairs and services performed
• Provide estimates for repair costs and timelines to customers or service advisors
• Stay updated with evolving vehicle technologies and repair techniques
• Adhere to safety procedures and environmental regulations in the workshop

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or vocational school certification preferred
• Proven experience as an auto mechanic or technician
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and computer systems in modern vehicles
• Familiarity with diagnostic tools, service manuals, and repair equipment
• Good problem-solving and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Physical stamina and dexterity
