Technical responsibilities
- Inspecting vehicles to assess the extent of damage.
- Identifying the type of repair required and estimating the time and resources needed.
- Using specialized tools and equipment to realign the vehicle''s frame and chassis.
- Removing dents, creases, and other imperfections from the vehicle''s body panels.
- Cutting out and replacing damaged sections of the vehicle''s body.
- Welding new metal pieces into place to rebuild sections that cannot be repaired.
- Preparing surfaces for painting by sanding, cleaning, and priming.
- Masking off areas that should not be painted.
- Applying paint using various techniques, such as spraying, to match the original color and texture.
General responsibilities
- Applying various techniques such as pounding, pulling, filling, and sanding to achieve a smooth surface.
- Applying clear coat to protect the paint and give it a glossy finish.
- Buffing and polishing the repaired areas to blend them seamlessly with the rest of the vehicle .
- Ensuring that the repaired vehicle meets industry standards and safety regulations.
- Keeping accurate records of the repair process, including photos and descriptions of the work done.
- Keeping up-to-date with advancements in auto body repair techniques, materials, and tools.
- Collaborating with other technicians, painters, and professionals within the auto repair shop to
- ensure smooth workflow and efficient repairs.
