About this Opportunity

This role is based in the Lloyds Technology Centre (LTC) and operates as a service provider to the UK business team. While the activities and responsibilities of the role holder can be assignment managed (i.e. day to day task direction) as the business team requires, the role holder remains an LTC colleague, and their line management remains in LTC.

As the Automation and AI Lead, you will lead and manage a team of specialists responsible for delivering high-quality analytics, automation and AI solutions in alignment with the requirements of the UK Payments Performance Office (PPO) team within Group Payments. The role focuses on oversight, coaching, developing, and performance managing the LTC team, ensuring the delivery of robust solutions for the UK business team. In addition to the leadership, the role also requires hands-on delivery as per business requirements.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead and manage the Automation and AI team, providing direction, coaching, and support to ensure high standards of performance and professional development.
  • Set team objectives and priorities, overseeing resource allocation and ensuring delivery against agreed service deliverables.
  • Review and approve technical outputs, ensuring consistency, quality, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for UK stakeholders, facilitating effective communication and collaboration between LTC and UK teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance processes, tools, and team capability.
  • Monitor team performance, providing feedback, conducting appraisals, and supporting career development within the LTC team.
  • Ensure robust documentation and governance of all analytics, automation and AI activities, maintaining transparency and audit readiness.
  • Support the integration of new technologies and methodologies, guiding the team through change and adoption.
What You’ll Need
  • Proven experience in managing teams within analytics, automation and AI, ideally in a regulated or complex environment.
  • Strong leadership skills, with a track record of developing people and building high-performing teams.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to represent the LTC team to UK colleagues.
  • Strategic thinking, with the ability to translate complex data into team objectives and service delivery.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing team culture.
  • Proficiency in data analytics tools (e.g. SQL, Python), data visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau), and platforms (e.g. GCP, BigQuery, Azure), low-code/no-code platforms (e.g. PowerApps, Power Automate, CoPilot Studio), AI/ML frameworks and tools, Agentic AI tools.
  • Knowledge of financial services and payments business is desirable but not mandatory.
