We are currently hiring for the position of SAS Design Engineer (Automation & Control – Substation Automation System) for a prestigious Saudi National Grid project.

Role: SAS Design Engineer (Automation & Control)

Location: Saudi Arabia

Experience: Minimum 5+ years in SAS Design & Engineering
-
Review project input data received from Sales and identify design gaps/conflicts
-
Prepare base design and detailed engineering documents for Substation Automation Systems (SAS)
-
Manage design submissions and approvals with clients and stakeholders
-
Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and customers throughout the design lifecycle till FAT & SAT
-
Handle procurement of SAS components, vendor evaluation, and technical negotiations
-
Configure and design SCADA/HMI systems (Zenon or equivalent)
-
Engineering and integration of IEDs, BCUs, gateways, Ethernet switches, firewalls, NTP servers, etc.

Work with communication protocols such as:
-
IEC 61850 (MMS/GOOSE)
-
IEC 60870-5-101/104
-
DNP3, Modbus
-
Implement and configure network redundancy protocols (RSTP, PRP, HSR) and time synchronization (SNTP, PTP)
-
Lead technical activities for SAS design, engineering, and system integration
-
Support and conduct FAT, IFAT, SAT, testing, and commissioning activities
-
Ensure proper handover of as-built drawings, documentation, and SCADA database backups
-
Work on OT cybersecurity systems (Active Directory, WSUS, Antivirus, NMS, Backup systems, etc.)
-
Ensure compliance with Saudi National Grid SAS standards (TES, TCS, TMSS specifications)
-
Support SAS prequalification and prototype design for National Grid projects
-
Strong experience in Substation Automation System (SAS) Design & Engineering
-
Proven exposure to Saudi National Grid / Utility projects
-
Hands-on expertise in:
-
SCADA/HMI design
-
Protection & Control IED configuration
-
SAS system integration
-
Strong knowledge of IEC 61850 and substation communication protocols
-
Experience in end-to-end SAS project execution (Design FAT SAT Handover)
-
Ability to handle technical documentation and stakeholder coordination independently

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical / Electronics / Communication / Computer Engineering
-
Certifications such as CCNA / CCNP / MCP / MCTS will be an added advantage
