Role Overview
This role is centred around drone system automation, battery pack welding automation, and external collaboration projects. The engineer will play a key role in the Airbotix project (manufacturing drones for partner companies) and in standardizing battery spot welding automation across multiple pack designs. The goal is to ensure consistency, compatibility, and scalability of automation systems in UAV manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
1. Automation Solution Development
-
Design and implement flight and systems simulation platforms for UAV testing and validation.
-
Develop automatic payload calibration systems to improve precision and reduce manual effort.
-
Support wind tunnel testing setups to validate drone aerodynamics and performance.
-
Lead automation efforts for the Airbotix project, ensuring partner drone manufacturing is efficient and repeatable.
-
Develop Battery Spot Welding Machine R&D solutions:
-
Engineer welding automation for consistent, high-quality cell connections.
-
Standardize welding parameters across all battery pack types (18650, 21700, pouch cells, etc.).
-
Ensure compatibility across UAV battery designs, with a focus on safety, reliability, and scalability.
2. Programming & Integration
-
Write and maintain programs in Python, C++, MATLAB/Simulink, SQL, or LabVIEW for drone and battery automation tasks.
-
Configure robotics, controllers, and vision systems for welding, calibration, and drone testing.
-
Integrate welding systems and drone testing platforms with MES/ERP for monitoring and traceability.
3. Validation & Testing
-
Perform extensive validation of flight simulators, payload calibration systems, and welding automation.
-
Carry out FMEA and RCA to identify root causes of failures and implement preventive measures.
-
Ensure compliance with ISO, IPC, aerospace, and battery safety standards (UN38.3, IEC 62133, etc.).
4. Collaboration & Documentation
-
Work closely with Airbotix stakeholders, R&D, and engineering teams.
-
Prepare SOPs, training manuals, and operator guidelines for automation tools.
-
Delivering the project within timelines
Qualifications
-
B.E./B.Tech in Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering
-
1–3 years’ experience in automation, robotics, or drone/battery manufacturing systems.
-
Hands-on exposure to battery spot welding machines or pack assembly automation preferred.
-
Familiarity with Industry 4.0 concepts, IoT/IIoT integration, and industrial communication protocols.
