WHY DO WE NEED YOU?
The Automation & Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and safety of automated packaging systems, conveyor equipment, labeling technology, and emerging robotic order_picking systems within the Distribution Center. This role combines hands_on technical troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, coordination with third_party service providers, and system-level problem solving across mechanical, electrical, and software_integrated equipment. The ideal candidate brings strong electromechanical aptitude, experience with PLC_controlled automation, and the ability to rapidly diagnose issues in a fast-paced distribution environment.
Automated Box Making Systems
Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and repair on automated box-making equipment involving:
- Mechanical assemblies and motion systems
Troubleshoot operational issues, diagnose root causes, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
Work closely with equipment OEMs and support teams as needed.
Conveyor System Maintenance
Maintain and troubleshoot conveyor systems integrated with the box maker, including:
Ensure smooth operational flow and address bottlenecks or mechanical failures promptly.
Panther Label Printer Systems
Perform maintenance, calibration, and repairs on Panther label printers used for shipping label generation.
Troubleshoot print quality issues, alignment problems, communication faults, and hardware failures.
KOZ Operating System Support
Use the KOZ operating platform to diagnose and resolve system integration issues between automation equipment (box makers, conveyors, labelers).
Monitor performance, review error logs, and collaborate with internal and external technical resources.
OPEX Automated Order-Picking Systems - (Future system installation and ongoing operations)
Support deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting of OPEX robotic picking systems including:
- Sensors and mechanical components
Identify and resolve system alarms, mechanical faults, and operational disruptions.
Facility Systems & Vendor Coordination
Coordinate and oversee third_party vendors responsible for:
- Lighting and electrical infrastructure
- Dock door locks and levelers
- Warehouse racking repairs
- Forklift and material-handling equipment maintenance
General Responsibilities
Conduct and document preventative maintenance activities according to schedules.
Create maintenance schedules where one does not exist.
Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and equipment status.
Responsible for equipment uptime and automation workflow efficiency.
Responsible for maintaining parts inventory for automated equipment.
Uphold safety standards and promote a safe working environment.
Lead cross-functional teams during operational changes, system upgrades, or new equipment installations.
IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?- High school diploma or GED, required
- 3+ years Industrial maintenance, automation technology, or electromechanical equipment repair (Distribution center experience preferred) - required
- Experience with PLC-driven equipment, servo motor equipment, and sensor_based automation systems. - required
Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings. - required - Experience working with conveyor systems and industrial printers. - required
- Computer proficiency for interacting with operating systems such as KOZ or similar platforms. - required
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with vendors and internal departments. - required
- Comfortable working around moving machinery and at heights. - required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced distribution center environment. - required
- May require evening or weekend support based on operational needs. - required
- Experience with OPEX or other robotic picking/automated warehouse systems. - preferred
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and automation interfaces. - preferred
Knowledge of servo systems and motor control theory. - preferred
