Job Summary:
Work with the Distribution Center team and Facility Maintenance Team on all aspects of Automation and Material Handling Equipment to include conveyors, sorters, diverters, palletizers, Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV), drives, gearboxes, power supplies and battery chargers, and Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) as directed. Perform regularly scheduled preventive maintenance (PM), troubleshooting and repair for all material handling (MHE) and automation equipment in use by the Distribution Center and Direct Fulfillment Center. Assist in vendor support activities associated with all material handling and automation equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Perform preventive maintenance and repair on all automated equipment and conveyors within the Distribution Center and Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS). These functions are carried out according to company policy; federal, state, and local regulations; repair manuals; factory specifications; blue prints and schematics.
- Follow all established Safety Standards for working with Automated Systems equipment.
- Support training of personnel for all material handling and automation equipment.
- Maintain all tools and diagnostic equipment for the Automation Maintenance Department.
- Follow troubleshooting guides for all material handling and automation equipment.
- Respond to calls from the ASRS for outages within 5 minutes of notification.
- All other duties as assigned by the Automation Controls Engineer.
- Diagnose machine malfunction and determine need for adjustment or repair. Reports any problems to lead or supervisor.
- Disassembles, inspects, and performs routine repairs and rebuilds defective parts on all equipment.
- Assembles and test operates machine to verify correction of malfunction.
- Maintains and lubricates machine tools and equipment.
- Cleans machines and may paint machines or equipment to prevent corrosion.
- Install or recharge batteries for any battery-powered equipment.
- Knowledge of operation and safe storage practices of ARC and MIG welding equipment to include; OXY/ACETYLENE, and PLASMA welding and cutting.
- Performs basic electrical tasks associated with but not limited to replacing motors, fuses, and switches.
- Troubleshoot and repair material handling equipment including sorters, conveyors, and cranes. Identify problems requiring outside vendors and inform the lead or supervisor.
- Performs evaluations of system critical devices such as high speed sorter diverts, high speed scanners, wave management scanners, etc.
- Utilize the Maintenance connection computerized maintenance management system. Monitors, reports, and documents the usage and replacement of equipment and parts.
- Replaces defective part with new part or repairs or reproduces parts.
- Troubleshoot, repair and perform preventive maintenance on power lift equipment, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and high pressure air systems.
- Performs preventive maintenance on facility; carpentry, plumbing, and electrical duties.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); required for all Distribution Center Maintenance positions.
- Two years of commercial or industrial maintenance related experience
- Operates shop tools such as a grinder, drill press, cutting torch and welding machine to repair or join metal parts.
- Adheres to all maintenance safe work practices and maintains a safe working environment at all times.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

$27 - $33 per hour
