Description of Role:

HLP Integration is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented mid-career Automation Tester (QA Engineer) with strong Selenium (or similar) experience to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The selected candidate will design and maintain automated test frameworks and ensure the quality, reliability, and compliance of COTS and custom workflow automation solutions.

This role works closely with Agile delivery teams, DevSecOps engineers, and product owners to embed test automation into CI/CD pipelines and improve release confidence.

Key Responsibilities:

· Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using Selenium or similar automation frameworks.

· Build and enhance scalable UI and API automation frameworks.

· Execute functional, regression, integration, and smoke automation suites.

· Test COTS workflow automation platforms and related integrations.

· Document and track defects using Jira and manage test execution in Xray.

· Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions).

· Participate in Agile ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Reviews, Retrospectives).

· Validate data integrity across interfaces, APIs, and backend systems.

· Collaborate with developers to implement testability and shift-left practices.

· Ensure testing evidence supports federal compliance and audit readiness.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of software testing/QA experience in Agile environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Selenium WebDriver or similar automation tools.
  • Experience developing automation in Java, Python, or similar language.
  • Hands-on experience with Jira for defect tracking and workflow management.
  • Experience using Xray (or similar Jira test management tools).
  • Experience testing web-based enterprise applications.
  • Understanding of SDLC/STLC and Agile methodologies.
  • Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Interest in and passion for technology.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with great attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and independently when needed.
  • Certifications in Selenium, or other similar automation tools.
  • Automation-first quality mindset.
  • Comfortable working in SAFe or scaled Agile environments.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced programs.
  • Strong collaboration skills across distributed teams.
  • Proactive defect prevention and continuous improvement mindset.
  • U.S. Citizenship REQUIRED and ability to obtain Public Trust clearance REQUIRED.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ISTQB Certification (Foundation Level or higher)
  • Prior Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) program experience
  • Experience testing COTS workflow automation tools (e.g., Appian, Pega, ServiceNow, or similar)
  • Experience with API automation (Postman, REST Assured, Karate, etc.)
  • Experience in federal health or benefits systems (VA, CMS, HHS)
  • Familiarity with BDD frameworks (Cucumber, SpecFlow, etc.)
  • Understanding of DevSecOps pipelines and CI/CD testing integration
  • Experience supporting FedRAMP / NIST-aligned environments

Pay: $70,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
