Test Engineer - Digital Relay Test Automation

We are seeking a highly motivated Test Engineer to join our Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) team in King of Prussia, PA.

As a Test Engineer in this team you will be focused on Digital Relay Test Automation. A typical day in this position will include the following:

  • Evaluating new test technologies and methods.

  • Determining Design for Test (DFT) specifications and working with engineering staff on new product design.

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining test strategies for new and existing products that meet corporate objectives.

  • Training production testing staff in function, design, and maintenance of all testing processes on the production floor.

  • Gathering and analyzing test data to improve test coverage and efficiencies.

  • Modeling SEL Values.

  • Continuously identify, measure, and improve processes.

  • Embracing the mindset understand, create, simplify and applying it to processes.

  • Other duties as assigned.

This job might be for you if you have:

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 2 years experience designing and developing production tests.

  • Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.

  • Experience with various programming languages.

  • Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.

  • Ability to work cooperatively in team environment.

  • Background check results satisfactory to SEL.

  • Negative drug test result(s).


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in electronic design, manufacturing and testing.

  • Skilled in the design and construction of test fixtures.

  • Experience in writing test procedures and test documentation.

  • Good understanding of protection functions in digital relays.

  • Basic understanding of communication protocols in digital relays.

  • Experience with testing of protection and/or communication protocols in digital relays.

  • Good programming skills (Python, Perl etc.).

  • Experience managing test teams.

Pay Range Information:

Our pay ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location. The salary range for this position is between $97,700.00 and $144,400.00 annually. We base our starting pay offer and title on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
