Job Summary:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Automobile Engineer to oversee the maintenance, servicing, and performance of the company’s fleet of vehicles and heavy equipment. The ideal candidate will ensure all vehicles and machinery are operating efficiently, meet regulatory standards, and support ongoing construction operations across various project sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect, diagnose, and troubleshoot issues in vehicles and construction equipment (e.g. pickups, trucks, cranes, excavators, loaders, etc.).
- Plan and schedule preventive and corrective maintenance activities for the fleet.
- Supervise workshop technicians and ensure all repair work is carried out according to safety and manufacturer standards.
- Evaluate and monitor vehicle performance, fuel efficiency, and repair history to reduce downtime and cost.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and prepare regular reports on fleet condition and workshop activities.
- Collaborate with procurement for the sourcing of spare parts, tools, and equipment.
- Recommend upgrades, replacements, or modifications for vehicles and machinery.
- Ensure compliance with Omani transportation regulations and safety requirements.
- Provide technical support to site operations on vehicle/equipment usage and optimisation.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Automobile / Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in vehicle and heavy equipment maintenance, preferably in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and diagnostic tools.
- Familiarity with workshop operations and maintenance planning systems.
- Valid Oman/GCC Driving License is an advantage.
- Proficient in MS Office and fleet management software.
