Responsible for managing, coordinating, and making critical decisions regarding the repair process for automotive collisions. Work closely with body shops and others to negotiate repair pricing and assess liability.

Job Description

Overview
The Automotive Collision Repair Adjuster oversees, adjusts, assesses, and monitors repair and damage documentation for the fleet of the City. Inspects damage, manages vendor contracts, sets valuations, and evaluates equipment viability.
Essential Functions
1 Reviews, evaluates, and inspects vehicles and other equipment brought into the shop for damages; assesses damage, provides general estimates, and creates detailed reports regarding issues and necessary repairs.
2 Manages, oversees, and works closely with various vendors performing damage and collision repair for equipment; reviews contracts and assists in determining specifications of damage repair on vehicle bodies; provides oversight and follow up with various different vendors.
3 Sets and determines valuations for auction equipment and service units; identifies and determines whether damaged vehicles and equipment would be repairable or if it should be taken out of service.
4 Performs damage estimates on site throughout the City; completes total los writeups, inspects rental vehicles, and reviews and authorizes claims in the field.
5 Produces and writes various reports and documents noting damages, estimations, valuations, and other pertinent information; visits shop daily to track work being done on automotive damages to ensure repairs are completed.
6 Oversees, authorizes, and disputes billing and invoicing; works with vendors and other departments to resolve financial concerns or billing discrepancies.
7 Completes special projects as needed.
8 Represents the City in court regarding damages and repairs of non-city vehicles; provides competent information and estimates for claims filed against the City.
9 Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.
Knowledge and Skills
1 Knowledge of automotive mechanical and body repair and refinishing methods.
2 Knowledge of damage evaluation, estimation, and adjusting.
3 Knowledge of collision repair and various related procedures.
4 Knowledge of structural damages and repair.
5 Knowledge of project management.
6 Ability to operate estimating program systems
7 Ability to evaluate collision damages and provide estimations, valuations, and recommendations.
8 Ability to oversee and provide direction for staff performing repairs based on estimation.
9 Ability to work with vendors and other contractors
10 Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.
11 Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
  • High school diploma or GED.
EXPERIENCE:
  • Seven (7) years of experience in automotive repair, maintenance, and writing and/or approving estimates.
EQUIVALENCIES:
  • An associate degree in any field plus five (5) years of the required experience will meet the education and experience requirements.
  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in any field three (3) years of the required experience will meet the education and experience requirements.
LICENSES and CERTIFICATION:
  • Valid State of Texas driver’s license with good driving record.
  • Current State of Texas Property & Casualty (P& C) License.
  • Must be able to obtain Forklift Certification.

Salary Range

$62,379.20 - $76,585.60

The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.
