Automotive Diagnostic Specialist

Shige’s Premier Auto Service, a trusted name in the South Bay since 1978, is seeking a highly skilled Automotive Diagnostic Specialist to lead our shop’s most complex and high-level vehicle diagnostics and repairs.

This is not a general line technician position we are looking for an expert-level specialist who can quickly and accurately diagnose drivability, electrical, and performance issues across all major makes and models.

You will be the go-to authority for technical problem solving and a key contributor to our shop’s performance and reputation.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting across all major vehicle systems:
• Engine performance
• Electrical & electronics
• Drivability & emissions
• Transmission & hybrid systems
• Use OE-level and aftermarket scan tools, scopes, and diagnostic equipment with mastery
• Collaborate with service advisors and management to provide accurate, clear repair recommendations
• Assist in technical support for other technicians — help resolve difficult or misdiagnosed repairs
• Conduct quality control inspections and road testing for high-risk or complex jobs
• Document findings in our shop software with clarity and professionalism
• Stay current with the latest in diagnostic technology, service procedures, and vehicle trends

Requirements

• Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in automotive diagnostics and repair
• ASE Master Technician certification strongly preferred
• Advanced-level skills in drivability diagnostics, CAN bus, and electrical troubleshooting
• Experience using scan tools such as Autel, Snap-On, OEM-level tools, and lab scopes
• Ability to work independently and accurately with minimal supervision
• Excellent communication skills — must be able to translate technical findings into clear language
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Must have personal hand tools in good working condition

Schedule

• Monday to Friday
• No weekends
• In-person only – Gardena, CA

Pay: $80,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
