Shige’s Premier Auto Service, a trusted name in the South Bay since 1978, is seeking a highly skilled Automotive Diagnostic Specialist to lead our shop’s most complex and high-level vehicle diagnostics and repairs.
This is not a general line technician position we are looking for an expert-level specialist who can quickly and accurately diagnose drivability, electrical, and performance issues across all major makes and models.
You will be the go-to authority for technical problem solving and a key contributor to our shop’s performance and reputation.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting across all major vehicle systems:
- Engine performance
- Electrical & electronics
- Drivability & emissions
- Transmission & hybrid systems
- Use OE-level and aftermarket scan tools, scopes, and diagnostic equipment with mastery
- Collaborate with service advisors and management to provide accurate, clear repair recommendations
- Assist in technical support for other technicians — help resolve difficult or misdiagnosed repairs
- Conduct quality control inspections and road testing for high-risk or complex jobs
- Document findings in our shop software with clarity and professionalism
- Stay current with the latest in diagnostic technology, service procedures, and vehicle trends
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in automotive diagnostics and repair
- ASE Master Technician certification strongly preferred
- Advanced-level skills in drivability diagnostics, CAN bus, and electrical troubleshooting
- Experience using scan tools such as Autel, Snap-On, OEM-level tools, and lab scopes
- Ability to work independently and accurately with minimal supervision
- Excellent communication skills — must be able to translate technical findings into clear language
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Must have personal hand tools in good working condition
