About You

You are a skilled and dependable mechanic who takes pride in keeping vehicles safe, compliant, and operational. You are organized, safety-minded, and able to communicate clearly with operations staff about repair needs and timelines.

About the Role

The Automotive Fleet Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing Rich Landscaping’s vehicle fleet to ensure safe and reliable operations. The fleet includes approximately 70 trucks, 70+ lawn mowers, and several large pieces of landscaping and construction equipment.

This role works closely with other mechanics who focus on non-automotive equipment and coordinates fleet maintenance, parts ordering, and inventory management to minimize downtime.

This role reports directly to the Vice President.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain company trucks, trailers, and automotive fleet vehicles
  • Perform preventative maintenance to reduce breakdowns and extend vehicle life
  • Order automotive parts, tools, and supplies needed for fleet maintenance
  • Maintain organized parts inventory and shop supplies
  • Track parts usage and reorder inventory to prevent downtime
  • Coordinate fleet maintenance schedules with operations
  • Manage the fleet on Azuga, our fleet management platform
  • Maintain service records, maintenance logs, and repair documentation
  • Coordinate with other mechanics to ensure full equipment coverage
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment

Qualifications

  • 5 years automotive mechanic experience required, preferably in a fleet or commercial environment
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience working with light-duty and medium-duty trucks
  • Valid driver’s license required (CDL not required)
  • ASE certification or equivalent training (nice to have)

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work with tools for extended periods
  • Ability to work in a shop environment and outdoors as needed

Schedule

Full-time, Monday–Friday, with occasional weekends as needed.
