Job Summary
The Automotive Quality Control Inspector is responsible for ensuring all vehicles serviced in the workshop meet the highest safety, performance, and quality standards before delivery to customers. This role inspects completed repair and maintenance work, conducts road tests, verifies technician workmanship, and ensures compliance with workshop procedures, manufacturer guidelines, and safety regulations.
Key ResponsibilitiesVehicle Inspection & Verification
- Perform final inspections on vehicles after repairs, maintenance, or bodywork.
- Check the quality of mechanical, electrical, and body repairs completed by technicians.
- Verify that all customer concerns and job card items have been correctly addressed.
- Conduct visual checks, functional tests, and diagnostic scans as needed.
- Perform road tests to evaluate drivability, safety, and repair accuracy.
Quality Assurance & Workshop Compliance
- Ensure all repairs meet OEM standards, workshop SOPs, and safety protocols.
- Confirm that the correct parts, fluids, and materials are used as per manufacturer guidelines.
- Identify workmanship issues, incomplete repairs, and safety risks.
- Report defects or rework requirements to the Workshop Supervisor/Manager.
- Support implementation of quality improvement procedures and corrective actions.
Documentation & Reporting
- Complete QC checklists and final inspection reports for every vehicle.
- Update job cards with inspection notes and approvals.
- Document repeated defects or technician performance issues for quality tracking.
- Maintain records of inspections and test results.
Customer Satisfaction Support
- Ensure vehicles are delivered clean, safe, and free of faults.
- Assist service advisors with technical explanations when needed.
- Help reduce customer complaints by preventing rework and ensuring high-quality service.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or certificate in Automotive Technology or related field.
- 2+ years of experience in automotive repair, servicing, or inspection (workshop environment preferred).
- Strong understanding of automotive systems (engine, electrical, suspension, air conditioning, etc.).
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and workshop equipment.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
