Job Summary

The Mechanical Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining mechanical components of vehicles. The role involves performing routine maintenance, identifying mechanical issues, conducting repairs according to manufacturer standards, and ensuring high-quality workmanship to deliver safe and reliable vehicles to customers.

Key ResponsibilitiesVehicle Inspection & Diagnosis

  • Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles to identify mechanical issues.
  • Diagnose problems related to engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, steering, cooling systems, and other mechanical components.
  • Use diagnostic tools and equipment accurately.

Repair & Maintenance

  • Perform mechanical repairs as per job card instructions and company standards.
  • Carry out routine maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacement, brake service, and periodic servicing.
  • Repair or replace defective parts such as belts, pumps, clutches, radiators, alternators, and suspension components.
  • Ensure all repairs meet safety and quality standards.

Technical Expertise

  • Follow OEM guidelines, workshop manuals, and standard repair procedures.
  • Use specialized tools, diagnostic scanners, and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Assist in troubleshooting complex mechanical issues.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Complete job cards accurately with details of work performed, parts used, and time spent.
  • Communicate additional repair requirements to the supervisor/service advisor for approval.
  • Maintain clear records for warranty and customer documentation.

Workshop Safety & Housekeeping

  • Adhere to all safety regulations and use PPE appropriately.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and workstations in clean and good condition.
  • Report hazards, faulty equipment, or safety concerns immediately.

Teamwork & Coordination

  • Coordinate with service advisors, foremen, and spare parts staff for smooth workflow.
  • Provide support to colleagues and assist in training junior technicians when needed.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Diploma/ITI in Automotive Technology or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 2–4 years of experience as an automotive mechanical technician.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle mechanical systems and repair procedures.
  • Experience with diagnostic tools and workshop equipment.
  • Good problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Basic communication and reporting skills.
