Job Title: Automotive Technician

Work Location: Hendersonville, TN

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Department: Service

Full Time / Part Time: Full Time Monday - Friday *NO LATE NIGHTS*

Reports To: Service Manager

Job Summary / Overview

The Automotive Technician performs basic care and maintenance on automobiles including changing oil, checking fluid levels and repairing or replacing worn parts, such as brake pads, wheel bearings, and sensors. The Automotive Technician also diagnoses automobile problems and performs repairs to manufacturer and customer specifications. They may explain automotive problems and repairs to clients.

Duties / Responsibilities

  • Diagnostics - Performs diagnostic testing and test drives to determine unknown issues
  • Maintenance - Regularly performs routine automotive maintenance with speed, accuracy, and efficiency
  • Engine - Performs engine repairs to the level of current expertise. Mindful of parts, fluids, and time usages to ensure cost containment.
  • Documentation - Always utilizes computer system to document inspection findings, maintenance and/or repairs performed
  • Growth – Minimum of one (1) certification required
  • Driver’s License/MVR - Holds and maintains a valid driver’s license and acceptable MVR. Immediately reports any driving violations (tickets, wrecks, or other) to supervisor for insurance notification

Required Skills / Abilities

  • Ability to use automotive diagnostic computers
  • Must provide their own tools and tool storage (tool box)
  • Good automobile diagnostic skills
  • Good understanding of automotive systems
  • Good organizational skills
  • Have a valid Driver’s License and ability to operate a motor vehicle (acceptable driving record and insurable).

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as an automotive technician
  • Additional trade school training or ASE certification preferred. ASE certification is required within 6 months of hire.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs.
  • Must be able to use automobile repair tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.
  • Must be capable of standing, crouching, bending, twisting and walking for extended periods of time while reperforming repair or maintenance work on automobiles
  • Must be capable of working in outdoor weather conditions
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone
  • Must be able to use a computer and tablet

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $40.00 per hour

Supplemental Pay:
