Role Overview
At Simple Details, we specialize in the high-end care and customization of luxury and exotic vehicles. The Automotive Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the mechanical precision, safety, and elite performance of each vehicle we service. This is not a traditional mechanic role—it’s an opportunity for a precision-minded technician to work on irreplaceable vehicles and execute complex installations with surgical accuracy.
As our Automotive Technician, you’ll handle a wide range of services: from disassembling supercars for paint protection film installs to aligning modified suspensions and installing bolt-on performance parts. You’ll be part of a high-performance team that values craftsmanship, clean execution, and a world-class customer experience.
Responsibilities
Vehicle Disassembly & Reassembly
- Safely and meticulously disassemble interior and exterior vehicle components to support paint protection and restyling installations
- Ensure all components are reinstalled to OEM or better-than-OEM standards, with zero rattles, gaps, or issues
Mechanical Work & Maintenance
- Perform oil changes, brake work, and fluid flushes on luxury and high-performance vehicles
- Conduct advanced four-wheel alignments for factory specs or custom builds
- Mount and balance tires on high-end aftermarket wheels without damage
Aftermarket Performance Installations
- Install bolt-on modifications such as suspension kits, aero components, exhaust systems, and flash tunes
- Collaborate with clients or the service team to confirm specs and desired outcomes before beginning any work
Shop Support & Cleanliness
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, contribute to weekly shop cleanup
- Assist with basic inventory checks, tool maintenance, and material handling
Expected Results (KPIs)
- Zero Rework on Reassembly: 100% of reassembled vehicles return to OEM or better standards, with no post-service complaints or issues
- Damage-Free Handling: 100% tire/wheel services completed with zero cosmetic or structural damage to aftermarket wheels
- Install Precision: 95%+ score on internal post-service checks for modifications and mechanical services
- Job Timeliness: 90%+ of work completed within quoted timelines or SOP guidelines
- Customer Satisfaction: Maintain positive customer feedback and zero escalations related to technician performance
- Clean Shop Score: Maintain a “pass” rating in weekly shop walkthroughs
Requirements
Experience & Skills
- 2-3+ years professional experience as an automotive technician, preferably in performance, customization, or luxury shops
- Proficient in tire mounting, wheel balancing, and vehicle alignment (Hunter machine experience a plus)
- Demonstrated skill in disassembling and reassembling vehicle body panels, trim, and interiors with precision
- Capable of installing suspension systems, exhausts, intakes, and other bolt-on mods
- Strong mechanical knowledge of vehicle systems and diagnostics
- Must own a complete set of hand tools and specialty tools relevant to the role
Preferred Experience
- Direct experience working on exotic brands (Porsche, McLaren, Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc.)
- Familiarity with PPF or vinyl wrap processes
- ASE Certification or OEM factory training (a plus)
