Tool and Die Technician (2nd or 3rd shift)
$33 to $39/hour + Great Benefits + Matching 401K
This role is responsible for independently maintaining and enhancing high-precision production tooling to support quality, efficiency, and uptime across manufacturing operations. The position requires advanced diagnostic capability, hands-on technical execution, and the ability to proactively address both planned maintenance and unexpected tooling issues. Continuous improvement, documentation discipline, and strict adherence to safety standards are essential.
Responsibilities
Tooling Performance & Quality Support
- Analyze and resolve complex tooling issues impacting surface finish, dimensional accuracy, and forming performance.
- Perform corrective actions to restore tooling to optimal operating condition.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Execute preventive and corrective maintenance activities on production tooling with minimal supervision.
- Identify root causes of tooling-related downtime and implement durable solutions to prevent recurrence.
Process & Design Improvements
- Implement tooling modifications and process adjustments to address quality concerns, production challenges, or customer-driven changes.
- Support ongoing initiatives aimed at improving reliability, consistency, and throughput.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of tooling changes, repairs, and process adjustments within the maintenance management system.
- Ensure all completed work is properly logged and communicated according to established procedures.
Safety & Equipment Operation
- Follow all safety policies and safe-work practices while handling tooling, machinery, and lifting equipment.
- Safely transport tooling between production areas and maintenance locations as required.
Education & Experience
- Completion of a recognized Tool & Die apprenticeship or equivalent hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Prior experience supporting high-quality stamped components in a production setting.
- Demonstrated background in tooling modification and implementation of design changes.
- Exposure to tooling build or refurbishment environments preferred.
Skills & Capabilities
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability.
- Proficient in interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
- Ability to select, source, and replace wear components and consumable tooling elements.
- Effective collaboration skills and a team-oriented mindset.
- Flexibility to work varying schedules, including extended hours, weekends, or shift coverage as operational needs require.
Pay: $33.00 - $39.00 per hour
