Job Summary :
The AV Technician is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining audio-visual equipment for events, meetings, and presentations. This role includes installing and troubleshooting AV systems, configuring equipment like microphones, video screens, projectors, sound systems, and ensuring seamless operation. The AV Technician must have a good understanding of AV equipment and technology, as well as the ability to troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues.
Responsibilities:
1. AV Equipment Setup and Operation: Setting up, testing, and operating audio-visual equipment, including projectors, sound systems, microphones, video displays, and conferencing tools.
2. Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and resolving technical issues related to AV equipment during live events, meetings, and presentations.
3. Installation of AV Systems: Assisting in the installation and integration of AV systems in conference rooms, event spaces, or other venues.
4. Cable Termination: Performing accurate and efficient termination of cables such as audio, video, and network cables, ensuring proper connections and system functionality.
5. Cable Coding and Labelling: Properly labelling and code cables to ensure easy identification, facilitating troubleshooting and maintenance.
6. Maintenance of AV Equipment: Performing routine maintenance and testing of AV equipment to ensure proper functionality and reliability.
7. Collaboration with Clients and Teams: Working with event coordinators, clients, and technical teams to understand AV requirements and ensure successful event execution.
8. On-Site Support: Providing technical support during events, ensuring all AV components function as expected.
9. Inventory Management: Maintaining records of AV equipment, ensuring proper storage, handling, and tracking of inventory.
10. User Training: Training clients or staff in operating AV systems effectively.
11. Staying Updated: Keep up with the latest AV technologies and tools to improve support and service offerings.
12. Perform fiber splicing and ensure proper fiber optic connections for AV systems, ensuring signal integrity and reliability
13. Performing any additional tasks related to the job title as required.
Required Competencies:
1. Technical Expertise: Proficient in the setup, operation, troubleshooting, and cable termination/coding of AV equipment and systems.
2. Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose and resolve AV-related issues quickly and efficiently during live events.
3. Communication Skills: Clear and effective communication with clients, event staff, and technical teams.
4. Attention to Detail: Precision in system setup, maintenance, cable termination, and coding to ensure flawless performance.
5. Ability to Learn: Demonstrated ability to adapt to new AV technologies and equipment as they evolve.
Education/Qualification/ Certification and Work Experience:
1. Diploma or technical certification in Audio-Visual Technology or a related field.
2. Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in AV setup, installation, troubleshooting, and cable termination/coding.
3. Proficiency with AV control systems (e.g., Crestron, AMX, Extron) is preferred.
4. Experience with video conferencing tools and networking is a plus.
5. Excellent time management and organizational skills.
6. Ability to work under pressure during live events and presentations.
7. Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
