Skills and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of benefit plan principles, theories and regulations, and compliance law.
  • Strong organizational, critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in all areas of benefits, including Health & Welfare, Defined Benefit, Defined Contribution plans, and other insurance plans.
  • Degree in business, human resources, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support development of Moody’s benefits strategy ensuring alignment to business goals and legal/regulatory compliance.
  • Plan, implement and communicate benefit programs, providing opinions and recommendations to formulate policies and procedures.
  • Engage brokers and vendors to implement competitive, cost-effective benefits that enhance employee satisfaction.
  • Carry out benefits benchmarking and advise Total Rewards leaders on the fairness, market alignment, and cost-effectiveness of benefits.
  • Provide counsel and recommendations for benefit program policies and procedures.
  • Embed inclusion in all benefit offerings.
  • Review vendor pricing and manage costs, making recommendations regarding employee/employer cost share and funding models.
  • Ensure accuracy of benefit plan documents and summary plan descriptions.
  • Ensure appropriate governance is in place for benefit plans and providers.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for escalation of issues
  • Support integration of benefits for acquisitions.
  • Implement external best practices to drive retention and employee engagement through benefit plans and programs.
  • Stay up-to-date with evolving communication technologies and collaborate with Moody’s Corporate Communications team to create innovative, effective campaigns.

About the team and the Role

The Assistant Vice President – Benefits supports the development and implementation of comprehensive benefit strategies tailored for the region. This role manages Moody’s benefits programs to attract, motivate, and retain employees, ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations. The AVP analyzes data to assess program effectiveness and collaborates with People Partners and leadership teams to align Total Rewards offerings with Moody’s organizational goals.
