AVP, Compliance - Regulatory Relationships

Job Description

Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Vice President- Regulatory Management, the main responsibility of this role is to support the group in ensuring it complies with all applicable laws and regulations. The role holder may from time to time be assigned within Compliance to support divisional requirements.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Build and maintain productive business relationships with regulators and management across the regions, must have a strong project management skill and the ability to work cross-functionally across the regions to effectively deliver the role purpose.
  • Act as an advisor to the different related divisions across the Group by soliciting with authorized expertise as required to provide timely and accurate Compliance advice on any critical regulations to ensure continued expertise is provided to the business functions.
  • Keep abreast of related rules, regulations and best practices, assess its impact on FAB and update the business functions accordingly.

Specific Accountability

Support the Vice President- Regulatory Management as follows:

  • Coordinating on ensuring the smooth delivery of the Regulatory Examinations for UAE liaising with respective units for data and meetings.
  • Review in preparation and submission of licensing requirements to regulators (E.g. New Branch, relocation, closure, international branch, conversions, New ATMs, closure, Temporary ATMs etc.).
  • Maintain the regulations (i.e. Compendiums) for LOBs, subsidiaries and countries and assist in mapping these regulations to the activities where applicable.
  • Maintain and manage the ongoing monitoring of the regulatory risk registers for UAE and countries.
  • Manage the requirements noted from Regulatory Correspondences from FAB, Subsidiaries and business.
  • Assist in managing complaints escalated to regulatory Compliance team from time to time by regulators / Governors office.
  • Manage requirement of SCA related to business, operations, custody and brokerage.
  • Assist in monthly review and tracking of the key gaps and responses on the regulatory updates from all the countries and follow up on regular basis.
  • Manage the related regulatory policies and bench and best practices.
  • Manage the regulatory issues and reporting for CBUAE, SCA for UAE with oversight and governance of FAB International locations.
  • Provide updates via MI reports on regulatory matters to Senior management via Compliance Monitoring, Assurance and Governance (MAG) team.
  • Assist in the meeting various external requirements such as such as monthly reports, insider approvals, trading periods, etc.
  • Provide guidance to senior management or higher authorities through effective management information reports on core regulations to help drive the bank’s mission, vision and culture providing support in defining and executing the group’s overall strategy meeting the bank’s needs and interest.
  • Assist the Vice President- Regulatory Management in other activities as needed and directed.

Qualifications And Experience:

Minimum Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Higher in Management, Banking or Finance, preferably with certification in compliance, corporate governance, risk management or internal audit.

Minimum Experience

  • At least 5 years of business experience preferably in Compliance and/or Audit in Banks.
  • Prior experience in dealing with regulators of the region.
  • Excellent understanding of regional laws and regulations.
  • Excellent Knowledge of the operational risks in different business banking functions.
  • Excellent project management skills with strong control.
  • Strong interpersonal, people management and facilitation skills with good leadership skills.
  • Preferably bilingual, Fluent in English and Arabic with strong written and verbal skills.
  • Focused on driving tasks to completion with pace, whilst retaining a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Discrete and has sense for integrity and handles highly sensitive information with absolute confidentiality.
