About The Role
Peraton is seeking an
AWS Cloud Computing Associate to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The ideal candidate will become part of Peraton's Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Datacenter Consolidation and Cloud Optimization (DCCO) program providing Tier 2 IT System and Service Desk support to the Office of Biometric Identity Management (OBIM) Homeland Advanced Recognition Technology (HART) system. The Tier 2 team provides continuous (24x7x365) system monitoring and technical support, acting as the single point of contact for all DHS users and stakeholders of the HART system; capturing all requests for technical support and services, as well as responding to all system issues by performing initial incident triage and resolving those incidents, where possible, prior to escalation to senior system engineers. This role is entirely telework based; applicant must reside and perform all work within the United States. The candidate must be able to work any shift.
Day to Day Roles and Responsibilities:- Be responsible for monitoring system performance, IT system operations and storage utilization.
- Help develop, document, and communicate cloud processes and best practices.
- Identification, isolation, tracking, resolution, and documentation of system problems, failures, or faults which may impede the stakeholder's ability to interact with the HART Biometric system.
- Perform system patching and compliance activities.
- Support incident root cause investigations and documenting troubleshooting steps used to restore system functionality.
- Work independently and in team settings using established processes and procedures to achieve key project/program objectives and deliverables.
- Maintains and improves customer satisfaction by troubleshooting issues with the ability to identify, resolve, and report on routine and urgent issues.
- Monitors generated alerts from observability platforms, troubleshooting or escalating issues as necessary.
- Handles incoming phone calls to the Service Desk, triaging stakeholder issues and engaging the correct teams for resolution.
- Maintain integrated hardware and software solutions.
- Adds or modifies hardware and software solution components to correct defects, improve performance, and incorporate additional capabilities.
- Provides user and system administrator support, including knowledge transfer and troubleshooting.
- Assists other systems support personnel assigned to the project as necessary.
QualificationsBasic Qualifications:- HS Diploma and 5 years of experience.
- Must be a U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain/maintain a U.S. government agency level clearance (the DHS EOD, which you must have prior to starting).
- 2+ years of Linux system administration experience, preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
- 2+ years of experience working within the AWS Cloud.
- 1+ years of Windows administration experience.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of AWS applications such as CloudWatch, CloudFormation, and Lambda.
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience managing applications that use web services to manage queue-based message services.
- Basic knowledge of RedHat OpenShift, Splunk, Ansible Automation Platform, and similar toolsets.
- Experience with networking within the AWS environment a plus.
- Experience with ServiceNow and Atlassian JIRA ticketing systems.
- Experience assigning role-based permissions while following the principle of least privilege.
- AWS Solutions Architect Associate certification.
- Linux certifications.

Target Salary Range: $51,000 - $82,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
