The Division:
Data-Basics Inc.
provides end-to-end integration software solutions for businesses in need of field service and construction management. SAMPro Enterprise by Data-Basics is one of the only field service software systems on the market today that offers contractors powerful tools to accommodate both in one complete ERP package. For more than 40 years, businesses have turned to SAMPro Enterprise for mission-critical service management software solutions.

The Position:
We are a leading provider of ERP solutions for the commercial construction industry. As we transition our software from on-premises to cloud, we are seeking a skilled Azure Architect / Administrator to design, implement, and manage our cloud hosting environments in Microsoft Azure. This role will be critical in migrating existing clients and setting up scalable, secure, and cost-optimized hosting for new customers.

The ideal candidate has hands-on expertise in Azure infrastructure, proven experience in cloud migrations, and the ability to operate and continuously improve hosted environments. This is a strategic and hands-on role with a high degree of visibility and impact.

The Azure Architect / Administrator will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing Microsoft Azure cloud solutions to host our ERP software platform. This role will lead the migration of existing on-premises customer deployments into Azure, as well as design and manage scalable, secure, and cost-optimized cloud hosting for new customers. The position combines strategic architecture responsibilities with hands-on administration and day-to-day operational management.

Key Responsibilities:

Cloud Architecture & Design:
  • Design Azure cloud infrastructure for multi-tenant and single-tenant ERP deployments.
  • Create reference architectures for hosting environments that balance performance, scalability, security, and cost.
  • Define network architecture including VNets, subnets, VPNs, firewalls, and connectivity to client on-premises systems.
  • Develop disaster recovery and high availability strategies (e.g., geo-redundancy, backups, failover).

Migration & Deployment:
  • Lead the migration of existing customers from on-premises environments to Azure.
  • Plan and execute proof-of-concepts, pilot migrations, and full production cutovers.
  • Standardize deployment pipelines (using ARM templates, Bicep, or Terraform).
  • Automate provisioning of infrastructure and application hosting environments.

Administration & Operations:
  • Manage and monitor Azure resources including VMs, storage, networking, security groups, and databases.
  • Implement monitoring, alerting, and logging for hosted ERP environments.
  • Apply security best practices (Identity and Access Management, MFA, conditional access).
  • Optimize performance and cost of Azure services.
  • Provide ongoing technical support for hosted customer environments.

Governance & Compliance:
  • Establish governance policies for resource usage, cost management, and role-based access.
  • Define backup, retention, and recovery procedures for customer environments.

Collaboration & Leadership:
  • Work with product development teams to align hosting architecture with application needs.
  • Train internal teams on Azure hosting best practices.
  • Support sales/pre-sales teams in customer discussions regarding cloud hosting options.
  • Act as the subject matter expert (SME) for all things Azure within the organization.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, with at least 3+ years in Microsoft Azure architecture/administration.
  • Proven track record of migrating legacy applications to Azure.
  • Strong background in Windows Server administration, Active Directory, and SQL Server.
  • Experience supporting SaaS or hosted application environments.

  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency with Azure services: VMs, App Services, Storage, Virtual Networks, Azure AD, Key Vault, Backup, Monitor, Security Center.
  • Scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Azure CLI, ARM templates, Terraform).
  • Strong networking and security expertise.

  • Certifications (Preferred but not required):
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate
  • Microsoft Certified: Cybersecurity Architect Expert
  • Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals

Soft Skills:
  • Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to balance multiple client projects simultaneously.
  • Problem-solver who can design pragmatic and cost-effective solutions.
