Babysitter/Respite Provider

Overview
We are looking for a warm, reliable Babysitter/Respite Provider to support one joyful 9‑year‑old child with special needs. This role involves working closely with the child’s mom to provide consistent care, engagement, and support in the home and community. The ideal candidate is patient, creative, and comfortable following routines while also bringing fun, connection, and calm structure to the day. This is a paid position, and the selected candidate will be required to complete onboarding through ACE FMS. Knowledge of California’s Self‑Determination Program (SDP) is a plus.

Duties

  • Provide attentive, nurturing care to one 9‑year‑old child with special needs
  • Engage the child in simple, age‑appropriate activities that support learning, communication, and creativity
  • Follow the child’s daily routines, sensory needs, and individualized support strategies
  • Work closely with the child’s mom to understand goals, preferences, and care expectations
  • Support community outings such as walks, park time, or local activities when appropriate
  • Maintain a safe, calm, and organized environment
  • Communicate clearly with the parent about the child’s day, behaviors, and any concerns
  • Follow all health and safety guidelines and provide basic first aid if needed

Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience babysitting, nannying, or providing respite care for children
  • Experience supporting children with disabilities or special needs is highly valued
  • Ability to follow routines and implement individualized care strategies
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to collaborate closely with the child’s mom
  • Patience, reliability, and a compassionate, child‑centered approach
  • Ability to stay calm, flexible, and supportive during challenging moments
  • Required: Willingness to complete ACE FMS onboarding
  • Preferred: Familiarity with the Self‑Determination Program (SDP)
