Backup Barista

Overview
Bonaventure Coffee Roasters is hiring! We are WSDA-licensed specialty coffee roasters on Olympic Avenue in Arlington. Named after our Grandpa Buck's B-24 that he piloted in WWII, "The Bonaventure" is the inspiration behind our business. It is our goal to embrace the nostalgia of the 1940s and celebrate one of the greatest generations while roasting and serving exceptional coffee. We are searching for a backup barista to join our team. We are looking for somebody who has the flexibility to fill in for shifts, sometimes with short notice, and to occasionally assist during busy rush hours or events. This position has no guaranteed hours, but as an organization that likes to promote from within, there is an opportunity for a future role with us which may include guaranteed hours.

Duties
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee-based beverages
- Operate espresso machines and other coffee-making equipment
- Provide excellent customer service by taking orders and addressing customer inquiries
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace
- Handle cash/credit card transactions accurately using Square POS system
- Ensure the quality and freshness of all beverages served
- Responsible for opening/closing procedures
- Promote and represent the Bonaventure name with pride

Experience
- Previous experience as a barista is not required, but preferred
- Knowledge of coffee preparation techniques preferred
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage with diverse customers
- Proficiency in using cash registers and POS systems, such as Square
- Ability to work independently with no supervision
- Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently
- Basic math skills for measuring ingredients and processing transactions

*Salary: $17.13 per hour, plus tips
