Job Purpose:
  • The Bakery Clerk at Hugo's Family Marketplace is responsible for providing exceptional customer service while supporting the bakery department in the production, packaging, and presentation of baked goods. This role is crucial in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the bakery area and ensuring the highest quality of products is offered to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide outstanding customer service by assisting and engaging with customers in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Follow proper food handling safety procedures to ensure a safe and hygienic environment.
  • Lift and move bakery products and supplies, with the ability to handle weights up to 50lbs.
  • Assist in the production of bakery products, including mixing, baking, and preparing items for sale.
  • Package bakery products efficiently and attractively for customer purchase.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of bakery equipment, counters, and work areas to ensure a safe and efficient workspace.
  • Decorate and arrange baked goods for display, ensuring they are visually appealing and meet company standards.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to meet production goals and customer demands.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and quality control to ensure all products meet the company's quality standards.
  • Manage time effectively to complete tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exhibit physical stamina by standing, lifting, and bending throughout the work shift.
  • Contribute to a positive team environment by demonstrating reliability and a willingness to learn and adapt.

Required Education:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Little or no formal education if the candidate demonstrates a willingness to learn, reliability, and some kitchen or customer service experience

Preferred Education:
  • Some post-secondary coursework in culinary arts, baking, or food service (optional)

Required Experience:
  • No prior bakery experience required
  • Willingness to learn baking techniques and store procedures

Preferred Experience:
  • Experience in a bakery, deli, or food service environment
  • Experience handling baked goods and decorating products
  • Customer service experience in a retail or food setting
