JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a Lead Ballet Instructor & Program Coordinator to guide our ballet program and deliver high-quality training across multiple levels. This role involves overseeing daily program operations, planning curriculum, supervising instructors, evaluating student progress, and maintaining strong communication with parents. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in classical ballet, strong leadership abilities, and a passion for developing dancers in a professional, encouraging environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Program Management:

Lead the overall structure of the ballet program, coordinating schedules, venues, class logistics, and staffing to ensure smooth, well-organized operations.

  • Curriculum Development:

Create and deliver seasonal lesson plans for all levels, focusing on technique, artistry, and performance readiness.

  • Student Assessment:

Establish clear progress pathways and evaluate dancer development each term. Share constructive feedback with students and their families.

  • Class Instruction:

Teach engaging, technically strong sessions for beginners through advanced students while fostering an inclusive and motivating studio atmosphere.

  • Attendance & Documentation:

Keep accurate attendance sheets, progress notes, and provide routine updates and reports to the Academy Manager.

  • Team Supervision:

Oversee part-time instructors, ensuring teamwork, clear communication, and adequate coverage across all sessions.

  • Safety & Compliance:

Follow all safeguarding guidelines, administer basic first aid when needed, and maintain a safe training environment.

  • Parent & Client Liaison:

Act as the primary contact for parents regarding student progress, schedules, and upcoming events.

  • Events & Performances:

Plan and manage in-house performances, and prepare students for competitions and external showcases, ensuring full organization and support.

  • Department Collaboration:

Coordinate with other departments (e.g., camps, partner schools) to support cross-program activities and ballet training in school settings.

  • Professional Conduct:

Arrive 30 minutes before class and represent the academy with the highest standards of professionalism and presentation.

  • Financial Responsibility:

Contribute to revenue goals by maintaining strong client retention, maximizing class capacities, and ensuring a high-quality experience.

  • Reporting Line:

Reports directly to the Operations Manager.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Extensive training in classical ballet, contemporary, modern stage, or African/Asian dance, OR equivalent teaching certification.
  • Minimum 3 years of coaching or teaching experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Safeguarding certification.
  • First aid qualification.
  • Police clearance.

Skills and Certifications:

  • Strong leadership and organizational abilities.
  • Effective communication and parent-handling skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and reporting systems.
  • Ability to deliver structured, inspiring dance classes.

Programs You Will Lead

  • Recreational ballet levels
  • Intermediate and advanced groups
  • Competition and performance teams

Performance Review

  • Termly KPIs will be set and assessed.
  • Venue visits and quality checks will be conducted by management.
