BANQUET SERVER/BARTENDER (21+)

REPORTS TO: Director of Catering

BASIC PURPOSE: The Banquet Server/Bartender performs all tasks associated with setting up, serving, and breaking down of function rooms where banquet food service activities are performed. This position is responsible for the prompt, courteous, smooth and efficient service of food and beverage to guests during scheduled events.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review and understand event orders at the beginning of each shift to ensure banquet rooms are set accordingly.
  • Attend all pre-shift meetings to ensure events flow smoothly.
  • Prepare coffee breaks, carts, and stations with appropriate food and beverages.
  • Maintain proper dining experience, delivering items, fulfilling customer needs, removing courses, replenishing utensils, refilling glasses.
  • Greet all guests in a friendly and welcoming manner.
  • Prepare tables, action stations, buffets, service carts, dessert table/carts as directed.
  • Replenish buffet items to ensure consistency and freshness in presentation.
  • Remove silverware, glassware, dishes, etc. from tables at the conclusion of the meal period.
  • Ensure guest satisfaction throughout the meal service.
  • Respond to guest requests in a friendly, timely, and efficient manner.
  • Performing basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by supervisor.
  • Monitor tableware to ensure it is presentable to guests.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned station and service areas.
  • Attend tables by removing and separating tableware, plate ware, glassware, and flatware.
  • Maintain high standards of safety and cleanliness at all times.
  • Communicate any areas of need, problems, and concerns from guest to Banquet Manager.
  • If no upcoming events, ensure all event spaces are in a readiness position for any possible site inspections.
  • Assist others with side work including, but not limited to cleaning, stocking, folding silverware, etc.
  • Adhere to grooming and appearance standards consistently.
  • Performs other responsibilities as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • EXPERIENCE: One year of employment in a related position preferred.
  • LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: RAMP certification or ability to obtain required.
  • SKILLS AND ABILIITIES: Willingness to work with others as part of a team-oriented environment, dress in proper uniform attire with a neat appearance, communicate in a professional and positive way, execute proper serving techniques, complete tasks as directed by the banquet manager on duty.

HOURS: Varies throughout the week, including weekends. Must have weekend and evening availability.

LIFTING/PUSHING/PULLING/CARRYING: Lifting up to 40 pounds, pushing up to 50 pounds.

MOBILITY: Walking, kneeling, climbing, use of stairs, ladders, etc. at varying heights and distances indoors and outdoors.

SPEECH: One-on-One conversation and communication with guests and staff.

LITERACY: Ability to read and comprehend event orders, menus, labels, etc.

CHEMICALS: Standard cleaning chemicals.

EQUIPMENT OPERATION: Ability to operate a range of equipment including drink dispensers, food warmers, serving chafers, etc.
