We’re hiring a few awesome people to join our crew of Bar Handlers for the upcoming season.

If you love being outdoors, meeting new people, and working in a fun high-energy environment, this might be Detroit’s best side hustle.

HandleBar Detroit is the city’s original 16-passenger pedal powered pub on wheels, taking groups on unforgettable tours around downtown Detroit.

As a Bar Handler, you’ll lead groups of up to 16 guests on a 2-hour experience filled with music, laughs, and great energy.

What You'll Do

Bar Handling isn’t just driving — you’re the tour guide, host, and vibe setter for the entire ride.

Responsibilities include:

Tour Preparation

• Prepare bikes before tours
• Load coolers and supplies
• Ensure bikes are clean and ready

Customer Check-In

• Welcome guests and verify bookings
• Help riders get situated on the bike
• Deliver safety briefing before each ride

Driving the HandleBar

• Safely steer and operate the vehicle
• Manage the route and tour timing
• Keep the energy fun and engaging for guests

Customer Experience

• Lead groups of up to 16 riders
• Monitor alcohol consumption and guest safety
• Enforce safety rules when necessary

Tour Wrap-Up

• Help guests gather belongings
• Clean the bike after each ride
• Reset for the next group

Requirements

• Must be 21+ years old
• Valid Driver’s License required
• Comfortable speaking in front of groups
• Able to work weekends (most rides are Fri–Sun)
• Able to stand, move, and be active during tours

Schedule

Part-time / seasonal

Most shifts:

• Thursday
• Friday
• Saturday
• Sunday

Weekend availability is preferred.
