Bar Support

Job Description

We are looking for one or two energetic people to join our team as Bar Support/Security at Wise Man Brewing, acting as an ambassador to our guests, interacting with them in a positive, welcoming manner, providing crowd management and helping maintain a clean and organized environment in the taproom and outside areas.

Specific duties and responsibilities include:

• Greet guests warmly upon their arrival, welcoming them to Wise Man Brewing and thanking them for coming upon their departure.
• When asked, check identification of guests to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol and practice responsible alcohol service.
• Continually walk through the taproom, patio, beer garden and around the building to ensure that guests are safe and adhering to all rules, laws and regulations.
• Bus tables of glasses/cups, returning to the bar. Bus tables of all trash and dispose of properly.
• Monitor and empty all trash cans when full.
• Determine when additional trash cans are required due to crowd and place as needed.
• Help clean-up spills or broken glass as quickly as possible to keep the taproom & outdoor areas safe for our customers.
• De-escalate any conflicts that occur while escorting rowdy clients off premises.
• Deal with aggressive behavior toward staff or other patronsor disobedience with statutory or establishment rules in a calm and professional yet firm manner.
• Execute the accurate and efficient completion of closing duties as assigned by the Shift Leader.
• Adhere to all company safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
• Communicate effectively and positively with team members asking how you can help when there is a break in duties and also asking for help when you need it.
• Steer clients to accessible amenities as needed.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Previous Barback experience preferred
• Previous Security experience preferred
• Guest-first mentality; Positive attitude with excellent communication skills
• Sense of urgency while maintaining strong attention to detail
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment as part of a small, closely-knit team
• Independent, quick on your feet, motivated, self-starter and trustworthy
• Ability to de-escalate conflict and deal effectively with the occasional rowdy customer calmly, professionally and firmly.
• Punctuality and effective time-management
• Ability to work evenings and weekends
• Reliable transportation
• Ability to lift 60 pounds and move 165 pounds
• At least 21 years old

Compensation: $5+ per hour + Tips

Job Type: Part-time

Disqualifying Criminal Offenses:

• Any conviction, plea of guilty or no contest, or deferred prosecution of any of the following criminal offenses:
• (1) a felony of any kind within 3 years;
• (2) convicted of an alcoholic beverage offense within 2 years; or
• (3) convicted of a misdemeanor controlled substance offense within 2 years that appears on any part of a criminal background check at the time an application.

(NOTE: a DWI is NOT considered an "alcoholic beverage offense.”)

Pay: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour

Application Question(s):

• Most shifts will be on Friday between 6 PM - 1 AM and Saturday between noon - 1 AM. Are you available during these time periods? Some Thursday and Sunday shifts may be available as well.
