Job Description

The Barista is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality coffee and beverages, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining cleanliness and organization of the coffee service area. The role ensures compliance with company standards, recipes, and food safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Beverage Preparation
  • Prepare and serve coffee and specialty beverages (espresso, cappuccino, latte, americano, etc.) according to standard recipes.
  • Ensure consistency in beverage quality, taste, and presentation.
  • Operate coffee machines, grinders, and related equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Prepare non-coffee beverages such as tea, hot chocolate, and cold drinks as required.
  • Customer Service
  • Greet customers professionally and provide excellent service.
  • Take customer orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Provide recommendations and respond to customer inquiries.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Workstation and Equipment Maintenance
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee station.
  • Clean and sanitize coffee machines, equipment, and utensils.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and care of coffee equipment.
  • Report equipment issues or maintenance needs to supervisors.
  • Stock and Inventory Management
  • Monitor stock levels of coffee beans, milk, syrups, and supplies.
  • Ensure proper storage and stock rotation (FIFO).
  • Assist in receiving and organizing supplies.
  • Minimize wastage and ensure efficient use of materials.
  • Compliance with Food Safety and Hygiene
  • Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
  • Maintain personal hygiene and professional grooming.
  • Ensure compliance with HACCP and company standards.
  • Follow health and safety procedures.

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or Certification in Hospitality, Food & Beverage Service, or related field (advantage)

Preferred Certifications

  • Barista Training Certification from a recognized institution
  • Food Safety Level 2 Certification
  • HACCP Awareness Training
  • Customer Service Training Certification (advantage)

Experience

  • Minimum 2–4 years of experience as a Barista.
  • Experience in café, hospitality, catering, or food service environment preferred.
  • Experience with specialty coffee preparation is an advantage.

  • Strong coffee preparation and beverage-making skills
  • Good customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Attention to detail and quality
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Technical Skills

  • Ability to operate espresso machines and coffee grinders
  • Knowledge of coffee preparation techniques and standards
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
  • Basic computer or POS system knowledge (advantage)

Other Requirements

  • Professional appearance and grooming standards
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Physically fit and able to stand for long periods
  • UAE experience preferred
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
