Barista

Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Barista to join our café team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional customer service, prepare high-quality coffee and food items, and maintain a clean and welcoming environment. This role offers an opportunity to work in a vibrant café setting, engaging with customers and honing skills in food service and retail operations. Must have a Certificate of Food Protection or obtain one soon.

Duties

• Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages, teas, and specialty drinks with precision and consistency.
• Operate POS systems such as Square for order processing and cash handling.
• Take customer orders accurately, ensuring prompt service while maintaining excellent customer relations.
• Handle cash transactions, process payments, and give correct change efficiently.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in food preparation areas, counters, and seating areas in accordance with food safety regulations.
• Assist with food preparation tasks including basic food handling, serving food items, and managing inventory levels.
• Manage time effectively during busy periods to ensure timely service without compromising quality.
• Uphold food safety standards and proper food handling procedures at all times.
• Support team members as needed to ensure smooth café operations.

Skills

• Proven experience as a Barista or in the food industry with strong knowledge of coffee preparation techniques.
• Familiarity with POS systems such as Square POS for efficient sales processing.
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to engage positively with diverse customers.
• Strong time management skills to handle multiple orders during peak hours smoothly.
• Basic math skills for cash handling, retail math, and accurate order processing.
• Knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling procedures.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
