Position Overview

We’re seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Shift Lead to guide our team in delivering exceptional tea and boba experiences. This role blends hands-on barista work with leadership responsibilities, including preparing high-quality beverages, overseeing daily operations, and fostering a welcoming environment for guests and staff. As a Shift Lead, you’ll play a key role in ensuring operational excellence and supporting the growth of our boba shop.

Schedule

• Part-time and full-time positions available.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve a variety of tea and boba beverages to exacting standards.
• Lead and support the barista team during shifts to ensure high-quality service and smooth operations.
• Oversee inventory management, including ordering supplies, tracking stock, and minimizing waste.
• Train and mentor team members on drink preparation, customer service, and Figure 8 Tea Project protocols.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workplace in compliance with health and safety standards.
• Operate and troubleshoot the POS system for accurate and efficient transactions.
• Engage with customers to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere and address concerns promptly.
• Collaborate with management to enhance operations and implement new menu items or systems.
• Share expertise in tea and boba, embodying our commitment to quality and sustainability.
• Lead by example, coaching the team to drive sales and service performance.
• Prioritize safety for employees and guests, ensuring a healthy environment.
• Contribute innovative ideas and assist with tasks to support overall store success.
• Conduct uniform checks and ensure staff take mandatory breaks at appropriate times.
• Assist with cashier functions, including cash-outs and making change.
• Delegate daily side work tasks to maintain restaurant cleanliness.

Requirements

• Passion for tea and boba with a dedication to exceptional customer experiences.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a tea house, boba shop, or coffee shop.
• Prior supervisory, shift lead, crew lead, or team lead experience strongly preferred.
• Strong leadership and communication skills to motivate and support a team.
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Positive attitude and enthusiasm for tea and boba culture.
• Commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, and working in varied environmental conditions (e.g., extreme heat, cold, or noise).

Working Conditions

This role may involve:

• Physical activities: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.
• Medium work: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 30 pounds frequently, or 10 pounds constantly.
• Exposure to indoor and outdoor environments, extreme temperatures (below 32°F or above 100°F), noise requiring shouting to be heard, and hazards like moving mechanical parts.
• Working in narrow aisles or passageways.
