Barista Shift Leader

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Barista Shift Leader to join our dynamic café team. This role is ideal for someone with strong leadership skills, a passion for coffee, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service. As a Shift Leader, you will support daily operations, guide team members, and ensure a smooth and efficient café environment while maintaining high standards of quality and service.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support baristas during shifts to ensure efficient and smooth café operations
• Prepare and serve high-quality coffee drinks, teas, and food items according to company standards
• Operate POS systems (such as Toast) for order processing and cash handling
• Provide excellent customer service by engaging with guests, resolving concerns, and maintaining a welcoming atmosphere
• Monitor workflow during busy periods and delegate tasks effectively
• Ensure cleanliness, organization, and proper setup of all café areas, including bar, kitchen, and seating
• Oversee cash handling procedures and ensure accuracy in transactions and end-of-shift reporting
• Train and mentor new team members on café procedures, beverage preparation, and customer service standards
• Enforce food safety, sanitation, and health regulations at all times
• Assist with inventory management, restocking, and tracking low supplies
• Communicate effectively with management regarding operations, staffing, and any issues during shifts

Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience as a barista or in food service required; leadership experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of coffee preparation techniques and beverage recipes
• Experience with POS systems such as Toast is a plus
• Excellent leadership and team management skills
• Strong time management and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Outstanding customer service and communication skills
• Basic math skills for cash handling and sales transactions
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
• Ability to motivate and support team members while maintaining a positive work environment
