Bartender - Catering & Banquets

A Banquet Bartender is responsible for serving beverage items to banquet guests in a timely, friendly and efficient manner in the Golden Nugget’s continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service. This position must also exhibit a high level of professional and personalized guest service that embodies the Company’s brand standard and core values (K.E.E.P. – Kindness, Engagement, Empathy and Positivity).

  • Assist and prepare in set-up of the banquet area prior to guest arrival to ensure room design is executed correctly
  • Maintain timeline of events to ensure seamless service
  • Anticipate guests' service needs, including asking questions of guests to better understand their needs and watching/listening to guest preferences and acting on them whenever possible.
  • Follow all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverages
  • Follow all state and local laws for serving alcohol responsibly
  • Maintain cleanliness and condition of stations, tables, and other tools, following all set-up guidelines
  • Maintain complete knowledge of the daily scheduled group functions, times, locations, amount of people; location of all Golden Nugget function space and names of rooms; all styles of meeting and banquet room settings

QUALIFICATIONS
:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Minimum age of 21 years old
  • Strong communication skills
  • Appropriate professional appearance and demeanor
  • Must be available for various shifts including early morning, late nights, double shifts, occasional triple shifts, occasional split shifts, weekends, holidays, and long hours
  • Understanding of basic room diagrams for station setups and seating charts for guests
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group environments to customers, clients, and or employees of organizations that we serve
  • 1 year prior food service experience required, preferably in Banquets


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
:

Experience preferred but will train willing individual.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Basic math skills.

Language Skills:

Must be able to speak and understand English.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


  • Ability to move throughout the hotel (standing, walking, kneeling, and bending) for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to express or exchange ideas verbally and perceive sound by ear.
  • Ability to regularly move objects (lift, push, pull, balance, carry) up to 50 pounds.
  • Constantly walking up to distances of 500 ft. during shift.
  • Frequently stooping, reaching.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment. There are occasional hot and cold temperature changes.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to a smoke-filled environment.
  • Work with others in close spaces.
  • Moderate to high noise levels.
  • Walk/stand on tile/mats/carpet/cement.
