The Dow site in Carrollton, Kentucky, is one of two locations manufacturing key intermediates used in the production of most of Dow’s silicone products. These include food-grade materials, components for automotive and construction applications, and inactive ingredients found in pharmaceutical and personal care products. With decades of experience, the site continues to play a vital role in supporting Dow’s innovation and quality across industries.

Two manufacturing plants are located at Carrollton site: the Basics process converts the raw material silicon metal into polydimethylsiloxane; the Finishing process uses the polydimethylsiloxane to produce intermediate siloxane materials that are delivered directly to customers or sent to other Dow facilities for additional processing.

Our site is also home to Process Research and Development, and Quality Assurance. Additional on-site functions: Technical Expertise and Support (TES); Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability (EHS&S); and Improvement.

Located on the Ohio River and US Hwy 42, off I-71, ~50 miles west of Cincinnati and ~50 miles east of Louisville.

About you and this role - What you will do in this role

The Senior Production Engineer serves as a vital resource for Operations by applying technical skills to optimize plant operations, resolve plant problems, and enable safe and efficient production of low cost, quality products. Requires broadened conceptual and working knowledge and experience in job discipline to perform a range of work assignments. This role is responsible for assets that produce and distribute vital utilities to the site, including steam, power, air, and water. This role is very involved in site integration activities.

Responsibilities - Duties, projects, tasks, and activities you would be responsible for in this role

Works closely with the operations team leveraging their problem-solving skills and technical expertise.
Elevates and appropriately applies knowledge of the plant and technology referencing historical data and conferring with Technology Center or other subject matter experts (SMEs).
Ensures Most Effective Technology (MET) is understood and utilized and that process automation is used as a tool to optimize plant performance.
Utilizes defined MET and challenges/escalates MET application and assumptions when better solutions arise.
Partners with experts to perform advanced troubleshooting and improve and document operating discipline.
Diagnoses and documents root causes of asset utilization losses in the facility.
Understands why specific procedure steps and precautions are needed and keeps a strong field presence to reinforce the importance.
Conducts daily review of logbook and alarm history to better understand the plant operation and stay engaged with daily activities.
Maintains, owns, and reviews daily Key Process Indicators (KPI)/ trends to ensure optimum performance.
Responds urgently to plant issues and emergencies.
Acts as a unit technical expert during unplanned events and drives implementation of effective corrective and preventative actions.
Provides leadership, expertise, diagnosis, and optimization in plant Raw Material Efficiency, which may include yield or waste generation.
Ensures compliance with plant operating permits. Understands site integration and provides input to optimize the overall system.

Qualifications - Required education, experience and abilities that are needed for this role (must haves)

A bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering or Material Science / Metallurgical Engineer.
3 or more years of manufacturing experience.

A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Qualifications - An expanded list of qualifications that are "nice to have", but not essential

Experience with Fired equipment and/or critical rotating equipment.
An interest in site integration activities.

Skills - Specific abilities and expertise required to perform tasks effectively in this role (must haves)

Technical Problem Solving – Ability to diagnose and resolve complex plant issues using engineering principles and historical data.
Process Optimization – Skilled in applying Most Effective Technology (MET) and process automation to improve plant performance and efficiency.
Root Cause Analysis – Proficient in identifying and documenting causes of asset utilization losses and implementing corrective actions.
Operational Discipline – Strong understanding of operating procedures and compliance requirements, with a focus on safety and reliability.
Cross-functional Collaboration – Experience working closely with operations teams and subject matter experts to drive improvements and troubleshoot issues.
Utilities and Systems Integration – Knowledge of systems that produce and distribute steam, power, air, and water, and ability to contribute to site integration activities.
Data Monitoring and KPI Management – Ability to track and interpret Key Process Indicators (KPIs) and alarm histories to maintain optimal plant performance.
