Behavioral Health Court Coordinator

The Hancock County Behavioral Health Court, a division of Superior Court 1, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Coordinator to help lead and advance our program. Position Details:

  • Employment Type: Full-time, with benefits provided by Hancock County Government
  • Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Occasional work outside these hours may be required)
  • Annual Salary: $60,000 - $72,301 (Based on experience and qualifications; 35-hour work week at $32.91–$39.73 per hour)

Position Summary:
The Coordinator will play a key role in the administration and growth of the Behavioral Health Court program. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills, as well as experience working in behavioral health, criminal justice, or a related field.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required (preferably in Public or Business Administration, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Sociology, or a closely related field)
  • Minimum of three years’ full-time paid experience in criminal justice, human services, substance abuse, counseling, case management, or a related capacity
  • Ability to obtain certification for the Indiana Risk Assessment System (IRAS)
  • Must complete orientation for Problem Solving Court Coordinators through the Indiana Judicial Center within one year of hire
  • Preferred: At least one year of in-person supervisory experience

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, coordinate, implement, and monitor program activities
  • Oversee daily operations and staff, including supervision of participants, documentation of progress, maintenance of accurate records in the Supervised Released System (SRS), and personnel file management
  • Communicate regularly with the Judge and implement the Judge’s vision for the program
  • Lead and attend team meetings; consult and collaborate with team members and community service providers
  • Maintain the highest degree of professionalism and attention to detail in all aspects of program management
  • Generate and distribute reports on program activities and staff education
  • Attend required training and continuing education
  • Foster a healthy, communicative, and supportive work environment—especially during high-stress or emotional situations
  • Collaborate with government and community agencies to achieve program goals, fulfill funding requirements, and provide effective programming and ancillary services
  • Research and apply evidence-based practices to ensure program compliance, efficiency, effectiveness, and innovation
  • Assist with designing and implementing systematic program evaluations to measure performance and outcomes
  • Prepare documents, reports, presentations, and summarize data as needed
  • Prepare and submit grant applications
  • Manage the program budget, process claims, order supplies, and reconcile line items
  • Coordinate and attend conferences as required
  • Demonstrate proficiency with office equipment, audio/visual equipment, and software, including Word, Excel, database entry, SRS, Zoom, and Teams
  • Provide effective leadership to staff under the supervision of the Judge, ensuring professional boundaries are maintained with staff and participants
  • Exhibit strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Observe drug screens and follow chain-of-custody procedures
  • Build professional relationships with participants, supporting them in following court rules and benefiting from program participation
  • Promote the program via social media and community organizations
