Annual Salary Range: $40,788 - $42,840

This is a first-level professional position specializing in public contact work in the Missouri Division of Employment Security, Benefit Payment Control Recovery sub-unit. This position will work toward recovering overpaid benefits by initiating collection actions while maintaining constructive customer relationships.

Responsibilities - What you’ll do

What you will do:

  • Review unemployment claims to interpret and explain overpayments and collection actions.
  • Conduct assigned financial investigations, research and resource identification to maintain collection processes.
  • Interview claimants, employers and third parties to secure information in the collection of unpaid debt.
  • Maintain legal documents, such as assessments, certificates of judgment and garnishments to obtain claimant/employer records and information.
  • Exercise independent judgment and initiative within established laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Demonstrate effective skip-tracing techniques by locating claimants' contact information.
  • Work diligently and accurately to complete all assigned work.
  • Obtain the necessary cooperation and information using considerable tact and diplomacy while representing the agency in a professional manner.
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree OR 4 years of customer service experience.

Lack of post-secondary education will not be used as the sole basis for denying consideration to any applicant.
