Successful candidate will perform benefits administration for Virginia Beach City Public Schools and the City of Virginia Beach employees and retirees. Must be able to utilize various resources and tools to research and respond to a large volume of benefit plan and retirement questions and provide enrollment assistance by telephone, email, virtual or in-person appointments. Applicant will perform navigation, system support and information reporting with online enrollment application, benefits module within human capital management system, call center software, virtual meeting and counseling applications, and internal databases; excellent verbal and written communication skills; creative thinking with the ability to work independently and in a team environment; ability to comprehend and navigate multiple applications. Must be experienced and able to assist with the annual open enrollment preparations, event planning/attendance and coordination and perform any related work, as required. Coordinate and complete special projects as necessary and be able to make independent benefit decisions based on legislative guidelines, policies, and existing contracts. This position requires excellent organizational and communication skills in order to collaborate with our City/School employees and retirees as well as our external/internal vendors.
Required: High School Diploma or GED. Proficiency with Microsoft applications required.
Associate degree in health administration, public health, human resource management, or related field desired. Two years of experience in benefits administration required. Must have experience working with human capital management systems (HRIS) and online enrollment applications.
A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public using the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Frequent sitting, walking, bending, grasping, fingering, repetitive motion, reaching, and driving. Occasional standing, stooping, and crouching Ability to lift up to 20 pounds frequently. Requires timely and regular adherence to established work schedules Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential tasks.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Possession of a valid driver's license and vehicle for transportation. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.

Hourly rate range: $21.48-$31.34
Compensation will be based on job-related creditable years of full-time, verified work experience. The entry-level rate will be awarded at the time of hire. Upon the return of employment verification forms from the candidate's current and previous employers, the rate will be adjusted if creditable full-time experience is confirmed.
