SUMMARY:
Under the general direction of the Total Rewards Division Director, the Benefits Specialist is responsible for providing support for all benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability, and retirement plans.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Partners with employees and plan providers to investigate claim issues and provides timely resolution
- In partnership with the Benefits Administrator, prepares monthly billing and ensures reports are accurate and submitted timely
- Assists in maintaining and organizing claim payment reports and reconciliation records
- Collaborates with members of the team to test and update the benefits enrollment module
- Assists in the coordination of wellness efforts associated with medical plans
- Reviews monthly benefit enrollments for accuracy and completeness
- Meets regularly with the Benefits Administrator to discuss claims, enrollments, accounts payable items, and any pending obstacles
- Prepares retiree open enrollment and age-out reports and prints/sends correspondence to current enrollees
- Contacts retirees and employees regarding past due payments and collects updated personal information.
- Performs the end-of-month benefit termination process, and responds to vendor discrepancy reporting in compliance with IRS and Government rules.
- Assists the Total Rewards Division in planning and executing the annual benefits fair, enrollment events, reporting, and communication distribution
- In collaboration with the Benefits Administrator, reviews past due billing reports and coordinates correspondence and corrections with Finance and internal team members
- Prepares daily, weekly, and monthly claims payments for self-funded plans
- Research enrollment and contribution issues with vendors and communicate changes with Payroll
- Processes weekly COBRA eligibility
- Performs monthly dependent age compliance reports and prepares/sends communications to affected subscribers
- Assists in reviewing reimbursement account matters and sends notifications to participants
- May assist in proctoring civil service exams (occasional nights/weekends)
- May attend recruiting events as a benefits/total rewards ambassador
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:- Combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor of Science Degree; Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources or similar
- Two years of experience working in benefits administration, Accounting, or a similar field
- Strong accounting and Microsoft Excel skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:- Experience working in or with a governmental agency
- Experience with self-funded benefits administration
