Partners with, and provides consultation to, Operations Management and Human Resources on Sevita’s benefit offerings, policies, and strategies. This includes design and development of new offerings as well as maximizing efficiencies and maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Develops innovative solutions/programs to assist leadership in meeting the organization’s needs. Evaluates industry trends and best practices, seeking opportunities to enhance the benefits program. Evaluates and recommends consultants, advisor, and leads contract negotiation. Oversees open enrollment and related activities and communications.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function listed below:
- Oversees all existing health and welfare and retirement products and services. Serve as lead for development of new health and welfare and retirement products and services.
- Ensures Health Benefits platform and portal are employee-oriented, effective in managing the volume of participants.
- Manages total cost of plan-per-individual
- Ensures benefit programs are managed effectively and compliant
- Ensures that the development, design and reporting requirements of the company’s benefits programs comply with ERISA standards.
- Acts as a primary contact for M&A team when reviewing Diligence for potential future acquisitions.
- Serves as point-person with third-party benefits administration vendor, partnering with the TMN benefits team to negotiate best pricing and value for our employees.
- Partnering with legal counsel, ensure benefits policies comply with federal, state, and local laws, including, but not limited to, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, ADA, FMLA, and USERRA.
- Partners with HR Leadership to maximize efficiencies and effectiveness of strategies, policies, and procedures. Develop training, communications, and change management plan with any new benefits offerings
- Participates in the implementation of network wide projects as they relate to group benefits including working with third-party vendors to ensure all employee communications are deployed to our online tools.
- Participates in HR Service Center initiatives and delivery of services
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages direct reports including performance evaluations, scheduling, orientation, and training. Make decisions on employee hires, transfers, discipline and terminations. Recommends promotions, salary changes, and similar actions. Collaborate with VP of HR to resolve employee relations issues as they arise. This position reports to the VP of Total Rewards.
Minimum Knowledge and Skills required by the Job
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or abilities required to perform the job:
Education and Experience:
- BA degree in Human Resources, Business or Finance required; MBA or MSA preferred
- Minimum of 10 -15 yearsexperience in benefit plan structure and administration.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.
- Experience with a distributed workforce and lower wage workers is preferred.
- Prior supervisory/management experience required.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
- CCP, CEBS, CBP and/or SPHR certification preferred

- Outstanding communication and presentation skills; an ability to effectively communicate with a range of stakeholders, externally and within the organization.
- Ability and willingness to multi-task and manage multiple priorities and stakeholders; demonstrated ability to be detail oriented while also focusing on the big picture; maintain a strategic focus while addressing tactical needs.
- Strong financial acumen regarding all aspects of self-funded plans including key cost drivers and developing targeted interventions.
- Strong identification with Sevita’s mission and our commitment to the people we serve and the services we provide.
- Exceptional work ethic, high energy and stamina.
Other Requirements:
- Travel: Must be willing and able to travel as needed (less than 10% travel on annual basis anticipated).
Physical Requirements:
- Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
