Job Summary:
The Leave Administrator is responsible for overseeing and managing all employee leave of absence programs, including but not limited to FMLA, ADA, short-term and long-term disability, parental leave, and personal leave. This role ensures compliance with federal and state regulations while providing exceptional support to employees and HR partners throughout the leave process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as the subject matter expert on leave policies and regulations (FMLA, ADA, USERRA, etc.)
- Process and manage all leave requests, ensuring proper documentation and timely communication
- Coordinate with third-party vendors and insurance carriers for disability claims
- Communicate leave status, rights, and responsibilities to employees and managers
- Collaborate with payroll to ensure accurate compensation during leave periods
- Help train managers on leave protocols and compliance updates
- Resolve disputes or grievances related to leave requests professionally and legally
- Help develop and update leave policies and procedures in alignment with legal requirements
- Monitor ongoing leave cases and help manage return-to-work processes along with safety department
- Maintain accurate and confidential leave records in HRIS system
- Process and manage all leave requests, ensuring proper documentation and timely communication
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field a plus
- 3–5 years of progressive experience in benefits administration, with a strong focus on employment leave and labor law compliance.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state leave laws (FMLA, ADA, HIPAA, etc.)
- Proficiency in HRIS and leave management software
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across all levels of the organization.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
- HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP) is not required but considered a plus.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
