Summary

The News Content Director leads Falcon Media's student-driven news operations, ensuring news content production aligns with organizational objectives and fulfills the needs of the website, The BG News, WBGU 88.1 FM, Falcon Radio BG Falcon Media social channels, and other Falcon Media products.

Essential Functions

  • Produces content each week and ensures fresh news content appears daily on the website
  • Ensures news content remains focused on local events and issues
  • Coordinates news coverage with BG News Editor In Chief, BG24 Executive Producer and News Content Editor
  • With the Falcon Media Manager, select key volunteer support staff
  • Engage with prospective students in and out of classes to help with recruitment efforts
  • Works with Director of Falcon Media to ensure efficient and professional operations
  • Along with the BG News Editor In Chief and BG24 Executive Producer, leads the weekly news meeting
  • Work with Social Media director to create platform-specific content

Minimum Qualifications

  • Prior experience with BG Falcon Media
  • Demonstrated experience creating cross-platform content
  • Preferred majors: Journalism, Public Relations, Media Production & Studies, VCT
  • Excellent writing and reporting skills
  • Demonstrated good news judgment and knowledge of the University and community
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Minimum GPA: 2.25

Additional Information

  • This role requires approximately 10-12 hours per week during each semester with flexibility to align with academic schedule
  • Stipend: $5,400 annually, intended to support educational learning outcomes.
  • This internship is eligible for academic credit with approval from student's program/college.
