Bilingual Credit Analyst- Part-Time

Summary

The Bilingual Credit Analyst will support clients and orient them to MESO’s loan application process and technical assistance programs. Assist clients in completing a loan application with a focus on analysis of business income statements and projections, pro formas, business plan narratives, project budgets, and personal financial statements.

*Please note that this position will be part-time, at 20 hours per week and requires proficiency in both English and Spanish languages.

Description

This position is also responsible for delivery of technical assistance services to prospective and existing MESO clients. Credit Analysts implement strategies to support clients– e.g., from pre-loan application to post-loan closing, through the loan term – to provide structured, relevant and results driven technical assistance. This person will be responsible for maintaining a strong customer relationship with loan clients. They deliver scheduled consultations with clients and support building acumen in fundamental business management skills. This position coordinates with other lending team members and business development staff to provide ongoing support to MESO’s borrowers.

Micro Enterprise Services of Oregon (MESO) is a 501(c)3 non-profit that seeks to improve the economic opportunities of underserved individuals through empowerment, education, and entrepreneurship for the benefit of the greater community. We are currently hiring for a position within our Community Capital (lending) department to analyze and underwrite small business loan applications, provide a wide array of technical assistance to small businesses, and work collaboratively with other MESO departments to support the Oregon and SW Washington small business community.

MESO’s Lending Philosophy:

MESO does not only access the risk profile of the applicant from past actions and current plans, it also supplements character-based information into the equation and builds “relationship collateral” with the applicants. We are here to help overcome barriers to small business financing. We work with a wide variety of entrepreneurs and have a distinct focus on minority and women owned businesses.

JOB DUTIES

● Customize/Deliver efficient and effective consultation, assessments and responsive guidance to prospective and existing MESO clients on issues related to small business management such as marketing, bookkeeping, financial strategy, and cash flow management. Tailor and deliver business plan development, cash management and financial projections. Identify and provide access to appropriate resources and systems to help entrepreneurs manage, build capacity and grow their businesses.

● Analyze financial data related to loan requests and prepare written credit memorandums to support recommendations.

● Demonstrate sound judgment and effective decision making.

● Develop and present programs, training, and guidance in a clear and understandable manner. Possess exceptional communication skills with the ability to serve as a positive and visible representative of the organization with a variety of stakeholders.

● Evaluate financial/loan documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness

● Perform risk assessments on potential loan recipients based on credit rating, borrowing history, and other specific risk factors.

● Develop and manage individualized MESO client business capacity building work plans, designed to establish TA goals/objectives and monitor progress and impact of MESO TA delivery.

● Maintain client relationships and provide superior customer service

● Complete various reporting responsibilities for both internal and external requirements

Education, Experience, and Skill Preferences:

● Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Community Development, or a related field

● Demonstrated experience in financial statement analysis

● Ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels

● Superior written and verbal communication skills with emphasis on clarity, conciseness, and relevance

● Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines

● Experience with entrepreneurship, microfinance, social enterprise, and/or program development and evaluation a plus

● Advanced computer literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the Google cloud equivalents

● Must be fluent in Spanish and English

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must be fluent in both English and Spanish. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Has strong mathematical and analytical skills relating to finance. Ability to synthesize complex or diverse information; collect and research data; use intuition and experience to complement data; designs work flows and procedures; demonstrate attention to detail; gather and analyze information skillfully; complete projects on time and budget; demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness; work within approved budget; contribute to profits and revenue; conserve organizational resources.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Very organized, detail-oriented, fast and comfortable with various software programs (preferably with Downhome Loan Manger and Outcome Tracker) including Microsoft Office products.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

SBA lending experience preferred.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
