Bilingual Medical Assistant

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and bilingual Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, excellent patient service abilities, and fluency in both English and Spanish. As a Bilingual Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting patient care, managing administrative tasks, and ensuring smooth clinic operations across various medical specialties including dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care, and outpatient services. This position offers an engaging environment where your expertise in medical procedures, physiology, and healthcare systems will directly impact patient outcomes and satisfaction.

Duties

  • Greet and assist patients in both English and Spanish, ensuring a welcoming and professional environment.
  • Take accurate vital signs, record patient histories, and document clinical information within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
  • Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures and assisting with intake processes.
  • Support physicians with clinical tasks such as medication administration, X-ray procedures, and basic life support during emergencies.
  • Manage appointment scheduling, patient follow-up, and medical administrative support to optimize clinic workflow.
  • Assist with inpatient and outpatient care activities across diverse departments including geriatrics, internal medicine, dermatology, and emergency medicine.
  • Maintain cleanliness of clinical areas, sterilize equipment, and adhere to infection control protocols in hospital or Level I/II trauma center settings.
  • Support ICD coding processes for accurate billing and documentation of diagnoses related to complex cases such as PICU or Level II trauma situations.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Medical Assistant with familiarity in dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care, or outpatient clinics.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required to effectively communicate with diverse patient populations.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic pharmacology relevant to inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is essential; additional certifications such as EHR systems proficiency or X-ray tech training are advantageous.
  • Experience working within hospital environments including Level I or Level II trauma centers is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks efficiently in fast-paced healthcare settings.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to provide compassionate patient service while supporting clinical teams across various specialties including geriatrics, internal medicine, or emergency medicine.
