RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan and provide rigorous, engaging instruction addressing student Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals and NYS curriculum standards.
- Use culturally and linguistically responsive practices to instruct students of varying cultural backgrounds.
- Collaborate with teachers, related service providers and support staff to provide a team-oriented approach.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, strengths, and needs.
- Prepare trimester and annual progress reports.
- Complete student IEPs, including present levels of performance, goals and classroom accommodations using Frontline IEP (formerly IEP Direct).
- Collect and record data regarding student progress toward IEP goals.
- Use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and assistive technology as needed to address student needs.
- Participate in Instructional Support Team (IST) meetings to provide pre-referral strategies and interventions to support students in general education settings.
- Use a variety of interventions to support progress towards goals before considering more restrictive placements.
- Implement data-driven interventions to address gaps in learning due to COVID-19 pandemic.
- Demonstrate a reflective mindset towards his/her instructional practice.
Job Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess or be eligible for New York State Certification in Speech
- Must possess or be eligible for Bilingual Extension certification
- Experience with augmentative and alternative communication devices preferred
